XTERRA U.S. Trail Run Series
Having been called “America’s Best Trail Running Town” by the editors of Outside Magazine, Bend, Oregon will host the XTERRA U.S. Trail Run Series final event tomorrow, Saturday 27th. The competition will be a 13 mile off road starting in the historic Old Mill District in downtown Bend and will use – under a special permit – trails in the Deschutes National Park. Runners can expect sandy, rocky and dirt-strewn single and double track trails with a little more than 1,000 feet of elevation gain.

Runners of the Trail Run Series have gone through the trials of 50 races since last October and some big names will be lining-up for the event: Max King (who recently won the Transrockies Run), Kami Semick, Lisa Nye, Damon Kluck or Lisa Goldsmith, as well as several members of the 2008 U.S. Mountain Running Team. They will all compete for a $5000 prize money to be divided up among the top five men and women.
Registration is open until tonight and no qualification is necessary. The half-marathon is $35 and the day also will include 5K and 10K races that cost $25. Registration and details on the event are available at
